Android App Review - Qualcomm Snapdragon BatteryGuru

Developer: Xiam Technologies Limited, a Qualcomm Company
Platform: Android (with Qualcomm Snapdragon based chipsets)
Type: Utility
Price: Free

“Google Play Store description”
Snapdragon™ BatteryGuru is a battery life saver app that extends battery performance and improves overall user experience by intelligently making changes that optimize device functionality in phones with Snapdragon mobile processors.

What is it?
BatteryGuru is basically a battery saver app that manages your phone apps based on how you use your phone.  When you first install the app BatteryGuru monitors how you use the phone and then adjusts refresh rates etc. based on how you use them.

Does it work?
For the most part yes but I didn’t notice a huge difference in battery life.  IF you are a power user you may not see a huge jump in battery life. If you use your phone sparingly you may see a significant leap in battery life.

Pro:
-          Overall it worked for me

Cons:
-          Likes to turn off Wi-Fi when the screen turns off (not cool if you are using it to listen to music)
-          Doesn’t seem to manage refresh rates of all of your apps…
-          Sometimes it feels like it’s a placebo effect…

My Thoughts:
I've been seeing mixed reviews for this app and had mixed results myself so if you are interested try it out. It is free and if it doesn't seem to work for you just uninstall it. On my Nexus 4 before the app i averaged between 9-13 hours. After the app i get around 11-17 hours.

  1. To build native iPhone applications that can be sold through the AppStore your only option is Objective-C and using Apple's XCode tools along with the iPhone SDK.
