What Apple had to say…

iPhone X is the future of the smartphone. It is packed with incredible new technologies, like the innovative TrueDepth camera system, beautiful Super Retina display and super fast A11 Bionic chip with neural engine," said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “iPhone X enables fluid new user experiences — from unlocking your iPhone with Face ID, to playing immersive AR games, to sharing Animoji in Messages — it is the beginning of the next ten years for iPhone.” - Apple

So, is the iPhone X as much as a game changing as it sounds?
In a world “Yes”, but let me elaborate a little. Apple has keep a dirty little secret from its consumers for years. The iPhone hasn’t been a pioneer to the latest and greatest features since the iPhone 4 (maybe even earlier than that). Manufacturers of android devices (even dare i say Nokia with their Windows Phones) have been leading the charge of cutting edge features that Apple is just catching up to now. Don't believe me? Let me make you salty real quick; the Unlocking your device using facial recognition has been an android feature since 2011. Qi Wireless charging has been in phones like the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Google Nexus 4 Since 2012. Samsung has been dominating the Super AMOLED space forever now. They are so good at it that they make all the panels worth talking about including the one in the iPhone X. Also the screen resolution is  nothing special on the iPhone X being that the Google Nexus 6 also has an AMOLED Display but it’s slightly larger and has both a higher resolution at 1440 x 2560 with a pixel density of 493 (note the google nexus 6 came out in 2014).

So if Apple has been feeding us this bullshit all these years why is X so revolutional.? Look at it like this, Apple has sat back and waited for the right time to pounce. They gave android manufacturers the time to work out the bugs in all these new features over the years before implementing them their self. Face unlock while a cool feature, was rarely used due to the software easily being tricked by a photo. Also, it was completely unusable at night. Apple has taken face unlock to the next level. Not only does it scan your face but, it also scans depth. Qi Wireless charging was cool when it first was announced way back when but it just wasn’t practical to use due to it taking hours to charge you phone. The technology has improved a lot over the years. Hi-Resolution AMOLED displays have been around for a while now but when they first came out they were known for 2 things. Conserving batteries (when you use black wallpapers and ambient notifications)  also heavily draining them (pushing all dem pixels ain't easy). Now we are at a point where there is a decent balance.

Apple took all these features when all the bugs have been ironed out of them and, put it in their iPhone. So basically the dull aging iPhone with lackluster features gained most of the cool tricks that android users have been boasting about with the X. They even took it a step further with the Camera Tech which has always been the hump that Android Manufacturers have been trying to overcome for years.
The iPhone X is game changing for Apple Fans. No longer do they have to swallow their pride and act oblivious to the fact that apple has been raping their pockets for years for a slight upgrade to their previous device. The iPhone X is game changing for the general consumer because you no longer have to purchase a iPhone just for its brand or its simplicity, You can buy it because it has great features. The iPhone X is game changing for the Industry because it forces Manufacturers to be innovative again. For far too long it feels like the Mobile tech industry has plateaued and started on a decline. Apple make moves will hopefully inspire manufacturers to take chances and be innovative.
Does this mean Apple has finally left Android Devices in the Dust and claimed its place as king of the smart-devices?
Nope… Not even close. Apple has just caught up with the elite android devices. The race has moved into the next lap. The next iterations will probably define who is ascending.

Final Thoughts
It has been awhile since i have been interested in a iPhone, and I have to hand it to Apple because i didn't think i would be. The iPhone X doesn't do much for me being that I have enjoyed most of its selling points for years now on Android Devices but, there is something about it is calling out to me… Maybe it is just that I feel like Android has become stagnate and Google is trying to become Apple with its Pixel devices. I don’t know but I do know i will be keeping an eye on this one…
