What’s Hot?
  • Gorgeous graphics
  • Excellent Voice Acting
  • Great battle mechanics
  • Explains what happens to Aqua after the events of Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep

What’s Not?
  • Way too short
  • Cost more than other previous released remixes
  • Instal is rather large…
  • Some graphical hiccups

What is it?
Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep 0.2 picks up after the events of Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep. The story follows a female Keyblade Master Aqua as she journeys through the realm of darkness.

Story: 4.5
This a completely new untold story of Aqua as she ventures through the realm of darkness. She is battling the countless heartless as she releases that isn’t the only darkness she must overcome. The Story of Kingdom Hearts has always been convoluted, and at times seems just put together. A Fragmentary Passage works to connect the dots between Birth By Sleep and Kingdom Hearts. It does a fairly good job mending the stories together.

Graphics: 4.5
Clearly the best looking of the Kingdom Hearts game to date, Kingdom Hearts: BBS0.2 uses the Unreal Engine 4 and it looks beautiful. I did notice some frame rate drops when there are significant enemies on screen. I also noticed at times Aqua seems like she is running slightly on top of the ground, almost like she is not making contact with it. As you can probably tell I am really reaching for issue here. Most of these things go by unnoticed.

Sound | Audio : 5
No surprises here, as with most of Square Enix and Disney Productions. Voice acting is great, and the score is epic. I originally wasn't a fan of Willa Holland as Aqua, but she has kinda grown on me.

Replay: 4
While I will be working to 100% this game being a huge Kingdom Hearts Fan, others may not. This game is also rather short being about the size of your typical Kingdom Hearts 2 World 2x.

Around the Web: 3.9
This game is currently holding a 3.9 on Amazon

Final Thoughts
If you are a kingdom hearts fan buy it, you won’t be disappointed with the product. If you are a causal Kingdom Hearts Player, still buy it. It will bring some clarity to how the events in between Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep and to the end of Kingdom Hearts unfolded. If you are just getting into Kingdom Hearts I suggest purchasing the KH 1.5 + 2.5 in March then purchasing 2.8 afterwards. It may be a bit cheaper than as well.
