Favorite Games of 2013

Favorite games 2013
I played a lot of games this year most of them I really didn’t care too much for and, a lot of them were on mobile platforms. Even more didn't even come out 2013 so this list is strictly based on games that came out this year that I've played. These games are in no particular order except the colored ones.

Yellow = 1st
Blue = 2nd
Red = 3rd

Beyond 2 Souls
Developer: Quantic Dream
Console: PS3
Beyond 2 Souls is a bit of a different type of game. You play as Jodie Holmes, (a young protagonist) through different stages of her life. What makes her special is that she is connected to a spiritual entity named Aiden. Most of the game feels like you are playing a very long cinematic and if you screw up the reaction commands you will always have to ability to redeem yourself which is a bit of a letdown.

The Last of Us
Developer: Naughty Dog
Console: PS3
One thing that we had a lot of in the last gaming generation was post-apocalyptic games, Most of the dealing with Zombie-like creatures; and The Last of US is no different but it is definitely the best of them out there. If you own a PS3 you should also own this game.

Grand Theft Auto V
Developer: Rockstar Games
Console: PS3, Xbox 360
This game is amazing, enough said…  Well not quite it has its share of issues as well but none of them really bog don’t this Rockstar masterpiece.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Wake HD
Developer: Nintendo EAD
Console: Nintendo Wii U, (GameCube Remaster)
Nintendo raised the bar on what a Remaster should be. Yes most of us played the game back when it originally came out on the Nintendo GameCube way back when but, it still feel so fresh playing it again.  There are also some new features as well to keep you interested for a while. If you own a Nintendo Wii U then get this game if you haven’t already.

Pokémon X & Y
Developer: GameFreak
Console: Nintendo 3DS
Nintendo & GameFreak took a bold stride to make the first official 3D Pokémon game and it turned out a lot better than I expected. Yes this game is very easy compared to the previous iterations. I got past the Elite Four with basically 4 Pokémon around the level of 58. Actually that is one of the biggest issues I had with the game. I also despise Fairy Pokémon.

Super Mario 3D World
Developer: Nintendo EAD Tokyo
Console: Nintendo Wii U
I haven’t finished this game yet but I have to say, I really love it. The game is a bit on the easy side if you just try to run through the game. It becomes way more challenging if you try to collect everything. Graphically this game is stunning a super colorful. I highly recommend this game to all Wii U owners.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Developer: Nintendo EAD
Console: Nintendo 3DS
Looking for a way to waste tons of hours? Do you like playing games that the only objective is to live and make friends? Then Nintendo has the game for you. I’ve never been a fan of these SIM type games but, Animal Crossing is awesome & addicting.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
Developer: Starbreeze Studios
Console: XBLA, PSN, Steam
I only recently started playing Brothers which came out in August on the Xbox360, and I have to say I’m shocked on the quality of the game. It takes a different approach than most games when it comes to controls. You control each both brothers at the same time by using the control sticks. This is probably the best $15 dollars I spent all year…

The Legend of Zelda: A Link between Worlds
Developer: Nintendo EAD
Console: Nintendo 3DS
It’s shocking how after all these years Nintendo can’t seem to mess up a Zelda game. Each one seems to be just as good as the next. “A Link between Worlds” takes an unorthodox approach byu being non-linear. You can basically go anywhere in the game early on in the game. You can also rent the Key Item you will need to progress through the game very early. Don’t really want to spoil anything so I’ll just say that this is definitely one of the Top 5 Zelda games every made and if you own a 3DS, buy this…

Notable Mentions
-        BioShock Infinite (Didn’t really get a chance to finish it because I borrowed it out and still haven’t gotten it back. Of what I played of it, the game is awesome and definitely worthy of best of 2013.)
-        Forza Motorsport 5 (I haven’t had enough time with the game to make a final decision but this is the best racing game you can buy... When I get my Xbox One, this is the game I’m getting with it.)
-        Assassin’s Creed IV (I have to admit I was turned off from this game 6 months before it even came out. In all honestly I really didn’t care for the sailing parts of Assassin’s Creed III so when they decided to base the game around it I was like “to hell with that”. But for the short time I played the game {I didn’t finish it} it wasn’t that bad…
-        Call of Duty: Ghosts (Like Assassins Creed IV, I really had no interest in playing the game {next to Madden, Call of Duty is the biggest rehashed game franchise IMO}. But I actually picked up a controller and played it {Single Player} a bit and realized I still sort of like the game. If it wasn’t for Riley {the added K9 to the game which add a new gameplay element} I wouldn’t have even tried the game.)
-        Real Racing 3 (Looking for a racing sim for your mobile device for Android or iOS? Real Racing 3 is the game to go with plus it Free!!! These days it rare that EA put anything out that isn’t absolute crap but they nailed it with Real Racing 3. Now all we need is for EA to add Google Play Games features.
-        Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Nintendo 3DS) - Just started playing this game it its really cool.
-        NBA 2K14 - Once again the best basketball sim available. There was absolutely no competition for it either...
